1. I want to be able to manipulate points/vertexes/facets of mesh of imported .3ds files in Modeler. I import .3ds into Animator first, which saves file as .fact which Modeler can import. Modeler allows me to transform entire imported object (.fact created from original .3ds) but can not select points/vertexes/facets to manipulate. How can I do this? I am aware of the selection tool for points, faces etc, but it doesn't seem to work.

2. When I import .obj files into Animator it makes them into facts which have missing facets. Same file in .3ds format seems okay. Whazzup wit dat?

Oh yeah. I have Mac G4 400 mhz with 1 GB RAM running OS 9.2.2. Also sports three hamster wheel reserve power generator for when the grid goes down.

Modeler is not a polygonal modeler it is a NURBs based modeler, so you cannot edit/manipulate poly models (which is what FACT files are). You can import them into modeler for reference only. If you can output from 3D Studio into one of the SAT formats that EIM understands, you will be able to re-edit in modeler.
