So, just recently started using the toolkit modeler on OSX and for the most part is pretty good. However I am experiencing many instances of "unexpectedly quit" and after the first one I am now saving my work obsessively. But it is definitely a drag, has anyone else had this problem? If so, is there any remedy? If anyone has any ideas please let me know, thanks!

System specs?

The specs are:

G4 dual 500, 1gig of RAM,
system 10.1.3 (the latest one) running on a 5gig partition of a 30gig drive.

I cant think of any other specs to mention.

Both the system and the 3dtk modeler are freshly installed less than a week ago, and as far as I can tell everything is where it should be. I know that eim can be a little fussy now and then but this is more than I have experienced in the past with OS 9.2. The behavior does not seem to be associated with any operations/tools in particular. hmmm...

Are you working on existing files or starting from scratch?

I was working on an existing file. Now that I think about it, I was not having this problem on friday when I was working on this model file. So what does this mean?

The code has unfortunately changed slightly (it our attempt to unify the structure) which means the app opens the file but may be unstable. Model files are not unstable but project files can be.

We have worked it largely out at this point but there is some legacy issues that linger.

Hi Alex,

Early versions of EIUM 4.x had problems running in OSX with the Classic environment on. Same symptoms as you've described. Check the EI Forums (http://www.electricimage.com/index.html) for more details.

Don't know if this applies to the DVTK version, though.

Hope this helps,
Matt

When running the tutorials I'm crashing every 5 or 6 steps.

Is there a workaround to make learning this not so awkward?

I'm running OSX 10.1.5
New G4 800 with 1 gig ram

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Yea, unfortunately...you should do the tutorials in the original version and then the newer stuff in the current version. We are working to correct this...should be complete by mid-July

I've now run the modeler in both 10.1.5 and in the classic environment, There seems to be serious crash issues. I have given the modeler over 450 megs in system 9, but that doesn't seem to help.

I'm still to get through one tutorial without it crashing, which requires me to restart the machine in classic environment.

This is sort of a drag, as it's killing my initial excitement toward this package.

Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks a whole bunch and sorry for whining!
