just a quick question why is there no upgrade price for people who have the normal version of dvmatte? or the composite toolkit

also is there any chance that this works in AE 5.0 or is it ONLY 5.5 and up?

Okay, I just got the composite toolkit a couple weeks ago... which came with dvmatte. Is there some way for me to upgrade? If not, is it possible to make that an option?

'Cause there's lots of other stuff I need to buy, and it'd be cool if there were like a $29 or $49 upgrade from composite toolkit for this dvmatte pro. It'd also be cool if it were shippable. Because what if you lose the thing?

Also, in this version... the PC version... I put dvmatte basic in the AE plugins folder in a folder called "dvGarage". But it put it in a folder called "bensyverson".

Here's my first try with it:

Clickie. (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/awb1989/greenscreenshot_keyed.mov)

I gotta go now, and just did it in a couple minutes. I'll play with it more tomorrow.

Oops... just realized my mask cut off the top of the hair in some frames. Oh, well. :p

EDIT: Oh, and I laughed at "Warning: Attempting to do this without dvMatte Pro may lead to depression and unemployment."

Hey all,

I guess anyone who purchased dvMatte should get an email with details on how to upgrade. If you haven't received an email, drop a line to mailto:help@dvgarage.com

The "depression and unemployment" crack is great -- what a company. :)

will the composite toolkit be shipping with dv matte pro at any point? right now the description mentions it only including dvmatte basic.

E-mail sent. :)

Heh -- yep. I've seen Primatte pull a key on a hair image on greenscreen, that I couldn't pull with dvMatte Pro. Maybe it's the fact that the version I used was a compressed jpg, though. I'll try it soon when I get the dv footage.

Anyway. Any comments on my little test?

A question, by the way:

1. In the chroma matte section of the effect (at least I think it's that section), are there any set numbers for PAL? (4:2:0)

And, I saw that the dvgarage folder actually works. w00t!

EDIT: Another question: about the stupid sharpness thing on the camera they used (I assume it's the pd-150 that can't shoot 30p?)... I know Ryan_W was able to turn it off on his GL-1, I've heard you can't turn it off on the XL1, I've heard you can turn it off on the XL1S, and NXTB, my friend, just told me on AIM that he can turn it off on his GL-2. So, I guess it's not a question, really. :p

Everyone who previously ordered either dvMatte or the Composite Toolkit with dvMatte should have received an email about how to upgrade. As Ben mentioned above, if you didn't get an email, just send a note to help@dvgarage.com, and we'll make sure you're taken care of.

As far as including dvMatte Pro with the Composite Toolkit, for the moment the answer is no. We have to rework a number of the tutorials so that they are fit with the new dvMatte, which we won't get to until September/October.

What updates will there be other than the dvMatte pro tutorial instead of the basic tutorial? Wouldn't garbage matting be the same? Other than the fact that this thing doesn't want you to garbage matte and still wants to give you perfect results? :D

Anyway, will there be a composite toolkit upgrade, too, to the next version with dvmatte pro in September/October? Or just having to buy the full comp toolkit that way? It'd be cool to have updated tutorials, too. :D

We are going to START working on the CTK in Sept/Oct.; we haven't really worked out any of the details yet, haven't looked at AE 6.0 yet, etc., etc. It'll take a while to finish.

So, we haven't thought at all about upgrade paths and the like, though we always try to be reasonable about it (at least, we think so).

EDIT: Never mind; I read the previous post wrong.

How does it work when I download it after I buy it? Is there some security system in case I lose the files? Or do I just burn it to CD? Or what?

once you download it you can log back into your account on dvgarage goto my orders or a similar name and you'll have the ability to go back to the download page and you can download again
