Keying over moving footage- bug?

I'm using Conduit 1.5 (in demo mode) within FCP 5.1.2 (on an Intel Mac Pro) to key an interview subject over a moving background. Both the interviewee and background media are exactly 10 seconds. When I render the comp in the timeline, the footage drops out after 5 seconds, leaving black for the remainder of the clip. Here's my steps:

1) Drop a hi-res still into a sequence at a duration of 10 seconds. Keyframe a move (slow pan across) to the cityscape image. Render the sequence.

2) Create a second sequence and edit in the 10 second interview clip. Apply Conduit to the interview clip, and drag the "Background Move 1" sequence into the Image 1 well under the Conduit filter.

3) Enter Conduit, create a nice clean key, and exit out to the timeline. Scrubbing through the unrendered timeline, I see the background for the entire 10 seconds. On the NTSC out, however, the background disappears halfway through. Rendering the clip leaves me with black on the back end.

I thought it might be a result of dragging a sequence into the image well, so I exported the "Background Move 1" as a self-contained QT and brought it back in. Same results. Any thoughts?

Sorry that you're having problems. I can't replicate the bug, these steps work as expected... What format is your sequence and source footage?

Based on this info, it sounds like a bug in FCP. Conduit doesn't really know about footage, it just does its work per-frame using the images handed by the host application. So footage dropping out halfway through is most likely to be a problem on the host side.

Yeah, it's really strange. The source clip I created and the sequence are both DV (I was testing out the DV chroma keying- very clean!). If I have time today I'll run through those steps in Motion.

Just out of interest is the clip playing at double speed?, I only ask as I've had a similar issue & am trying to track it down. My 10 sec clip runs to black after 5 sec, after exporting I played it half speed in QT, back to normal... ;)
