View Full Version : Don't install FCP 5.1.3 upgrade

Apple recently released a 5.1.3 upgrade for Final Cut Pro, which breaks Conduit. Specifically, the "Open Editor" button doesn't appear in the Conduit filter's properties view anymore, which makes it impossible to create or edit conduits in FCP (although existing Conduit setups still render properly).

The release notes for 5.1.3 don't mention any changes related to FxPlug, so this appears to be a new bug in the FCP FxPlug host.

The best way to avoid the bug is simply to avoid the 5.1.3 upgrade for now. (Luckily 5.1.3 is just a minor maintenance release, so you're not missing out on any new functionality.)

Sorry about the inconvenience!

I didnt read this first, so Im out of luck. Is this something Apple needs to fix or something dvGarage can fix?

Hope to get a response.

Hi Darrin,

sorry that you got hit by this issue. There doesn't seem to be anything we could do, given that FCP 5.1.3 isn't supposed to have any changes that would affect Conduit.

(We're not the only ones affected: the popular Automatic Duck (http://www.automaticduck.com/support/blog/labels/fcp%20final%20cut%20pro%205.1.3%20pro%20import%20f cp%20pifcp.html) import plug-in is also broken by the 5.1.3 update.)

I'd urge you to contact Apple support, perhaps they can recommend a procedure for rolling back to 5.1.2.

I called Apple and spoke to a tech adviser for FCP. He said there is no way to go back to a previous version. He first seemed shocked that a plug-in was broke by the update but then told me someone called him earlier with a different plug-in not working and he was unable to find a fix. He asked me to send a message thru the product feedback system, which I did.

I did a search on the Apple discussions board and I easily found pages of problems with 5.1.3. I hope that means a fix will come soon.
