View Full Version : Horizontal shifted lines mid-screen

I have project that I edited in FCP and originally captured from BetaSP to a DV codec. After client approval of the low-res renders, I am recapturing only the needed footage as uncompressed. (Cut down from 5 hours of green screen to 6 minutes.)

However, I now have a horizontal shift of about 10 scan lines mid-screen. The original footage does not show this artifact. The backgrounds are stills, and they have this same problem. I can see the problem when tweaking the effect in Conduit and upon render.

Any ideas?

Could you try if the problem is specific to Conduit? For example, try all the filters in the Blur category whether any of them produces the same shift. That would be very useful in narrowing down the possible causes.

Pauli,

The problem is in the 2D transform. If I bypass the 2D transform, the shift goes away. Same is true for both the foreground (matte) and the background. I have applied a 2D Transform to the background for positioning, but if I bypass, the shift in the background disappears.

My workaround (since this project has to get out) is to create a premultiply effect in Conduit and composite my video within FCP.

If you need any more information, please let me know.

Hello Ed,

that sure sounds like a bug in our code. Could you send me a short test sequence (just a few frames of your footage) and the .conduit file? That would be very helpful in debugging. My email is: pauli (at) lacquer (dot) fi
