View Full Version : When are you fixing the launch button?

Though I downloaded the "upgrade" to 10.5 off pixelcorps, I'm running 10.4 for the foreseeable future. This said, the Conduit... Starting Out tutorial advises to press the top button. That launches to this website.
I know you know of this glitch.
Any chance you can correct that glitch for 10.4? ASAP?
It's very annoying. I don't need to capture using Conduit Live, but I do like using it as a standalone as the other FCP installs don't allow for scopes.

Hi Anthony,
as you know, the fix is done. My recollection actually was that it would have been included in the 1.6.1 release of Conduit Live, but I guess not... I assume that is the version you are running? (I would verify whether the fix was in 1.6.1, but I'm on a laptop right now so I'm unable to access that information.)
It sure is an embarrassing bug (mea culpa), and I would like to have it fixed ASAP as well, but unfortunately I can't push out a fix just for this issue -- we need to keep the Conduit Suite on a unified release schedule to prevent the complexity from blowing up in our faces.
You don't necessarily need to use the Starting Point window for anything though... To load a clip as a source using the Control Panel window: choose "Image / movie" for Source, click on the triangle (to the left of Source), and then choose a video file.
I'm writing a Conduit Live manual myself, and the section that I've been working on included more information on these topics, so you may want to check it out in the manual thread (http://forums.dvgarage.com/showthread.php?t=6286).
Best regards,
Pauli

Pauli,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
It was never reflected on THIS site that an update was posted on 4/2/08 for those of us who bought it on the first weeks of release. Samples page still has the 1.60 demo, which is cool, but LET US KNOW YOU UPDATED TO 1.61! A version history under tech specs would clear things right up.
Unfortunately the pixelcorps site was far too infrequent with updates and it appeared that post was dedicated to 10.5 enhancements. I downloaded it and left it alone.
I'm desperate to know when software I purchase is updated for bug repairs, but I can't make it my job to keep visiting a site that's slow to announce stuff, if at all. The joke is that I was visiting in April and May for updates but there was no indication on DVGarage that anything was changed. (Alex and them may have moved onto PixelCorps. I bought the software through dvGarage.com, and I'd expect to be serviced through dvGarage. So don't forget about customers like me. )
I think a certain number of first wave owners have given up due to glitches and documentation issues. You're resolving the issues, but that should be linked to from the static conduit page, not only a forum. I understand this is a work in progress. Keep working on it, and let us know your progress. (And yes, I do check out your blog.)
Please don't take any of this post as a personal attack. If customer service was easy, there wouldn't be a multimillion dollar industry of consultants dedicated to just that.
The easiest thing is to do is a version history/bug fix/updates page on the main site.

Hi Anthony,
Apologies for your frustration. We did actually send out an email to buyers about the update, but obviously you didn't get it. Sorry about that. We've been having increasing trouble with email from dvGarage being blocked or treated as spam, which is hard to break through.
Nonetheless, your point about listing version history on the web site is valid. I'll look into finding a good way to include that shortly.
Regards,
Chris Marler
P.S. For anyone else who may have missed the email, to get the Conduit 1.6.1 update, all you have to do is log back into the account you created with our ecommerce partner, PADD, proceed to the download area, and download the application again.
