Just do a regular screenshot using the computer's built-in functions...

Mac:
Command+Shift+3 = full-screen
Command+Shift+4 = lets you select just a portion of the screen (click+hold+drag out a box)
Screenshots will be created on the desktop (OS X) or at the root of your startup drive (OS 9 or earlier).
(There's also the really nifty 3rd party app, 'Snapz Pro' with tons more functions including taking movie snapshots of the screen)

PC:
tap the 'Print Screen' button or similar on the keyboard. Open up an image editing program like Photoshop or MS Paint, and paste in the screenshot which should be in memory in the pasteboard.

Another PC option.

ALT + Print Screen = print only the selected window to the clipboard instead of the whole screen.
